Planning Commission
May 6, 2009
The May 6th meeting of the Upsala Planning Commission was called to order at 6:00pm by Mayor Cheney. Also in attendance were commission members Joan Olsen, Steve Woller and Lynda Tarbuck. Visitors included Kevin Breth, Gene Harren, Rob Schumer and Robert Maciej.
Kevin Breth presented his application for a building permit. He wishes to build a patio home on his lot at 116 Pine Ave. With setback and other conditions meeting the guidelines, motion by Dan Cheney to approve the permit, second by Lynda Tarbuck. Motion carried. Mr Breth also expressed concern about what will be done with the water shut off. This will be addressed at the council meeting.
Gene Harren and Rob Schumer presented an alternative building plan for St Mary’s Church for feedback. The alternate plan places the new church on the existing St Mary’s location. The primary issue seems to be impervious surfaces and potential drainage issues. A variance would need to be obtained. Issues with additional traffic on Oak Avenue were also discussed.
Permits approved by the clerk were presented. They included a fence for Scott and Lynn Depa, house demolition for Joe Trettel, a driveway replacement for Hilaria Nelson, and shingles for Marlene Soltis.
Outdoor boilers were discussed and a sample ordinance from Little Falls was reviewed. Motion by Lynda Tarbuck, second by Steve Woller to recommend the council pass an ordinance restricting the use of outdoor boilers within the city limits. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 7:05.
Submitted by Dan Cheney.
Next meeting is scheduled for June 3, 2009 at 6:00pm at City Hall.
