The regular monthly meeting of the Upsala Community Development Commission (UCDC) was held Monday, July 6, 2009 at City Hall, Upsala, Minnesota.

Present were: Mike Disher, Marlene Hovland, Marlys Juhnke, Robert Maciej, Bethany Malisheske, Mike Schultz, and Mary Wielenberg
Visitors: Joe Trettle, Tony Smieja, Elmer Frie, Linus Lehner, Ron Shodeen, Ruth Shodeen and Tammy Lange

The Meeting was called to order by Mike at 6:03 p.m.

Motion to approve the agenda was made by Marlene, seconded by Robert. MCU.
Minutes from the June 1, 2009 UCDC meeting were reviewed. Motion to approve minutes was made by Robert, seconded by Mary. MCU.
The treasurerfs report showed no bills nor expenditures.
The Upsala Planning Commission minutes from July 1, 2009 were reviewed.
The Tri-County Regional Services Center Task Force did not meet in May.

The Heritage Festival was discussed at length by commission members and visitors. The schedule was discussed, updates/confirmations were provided and suggestions were given. Saturday events include: 5K fun run and garage sale at 8 a.m.; bake sale at 9:30 a.m.; craft sale/flea market from 9-2 p.m.; parade at 10:30 a.m.; lunch and activities at Borgstrom House at 11:30 a.m.; Party in the Park at 11:30 a.m. with activities including petting zoo, pedal pull, kids fun run, car show, inflatables, cold dish contest, water fight, bean bag tournament, beer garden and food booths; raffle at Borgstrom House at 1:30 p.m.; food and beer at Rec. Bldg at 5 p.m.; D.J. music from 8-11 p.m.; and fireworks at 10 p.m. Sunday events include: waffle feed at 9:30 a.m. and community worship service (speaker: Rev. Robert Lee) at 10 a.m. Discussion was held regarding: signage for the event; the organization of parade entries; and shuttle service between Borgstrom House and the park. A donation of $2,000 (for fireworks) was received from the American Legion.

Due to Marlenefs upcoming leave, it was decided that Bethany will take over the secretary/treasurer duties and Mike Disher will be the new vice-president.

Marlene gave an update on the medical clinic survey. She checked with St. Gabrielfs in Little Falls and CentraCare in St. Cloud, but has not received confirmation from either.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
